Lamb's Quarters Vichyssoise with Purslane

Nourishing Cellar exists to create a strong foundation of health. We all need to bolster our inner “cellars” with nourishing food and lifestyle practices to heal our bodies and live our best lives!

As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), I am passionate about food and believe in the transformational powers of a well-sourced, nutrient-dense meal. I am also a farmer, mother, and chef who is privileged to witness the life cycle of plants and animals (including kids!). I know how deeply nutrition plays a role in the growth of a beet or lamb, apple or chick. From adding compost to a seed bed to ensuring sheep are given plentiful, healthy grass before and after lambing, I witness every day how nutrients affect growing beings. As a chef and mama, preparing nutrient-dense whole foods for my clients and kids is my passion—not only for the satisfaction of a delicious meal but for the knowledge that I am nurturing people on a cellular, emotional, and sometimes spiritual level!

Our ancestors have known for thousands of years that food is medicine— and not just in the form of herbs for ailments or chicken soup for colds. Everything that we put in our body has an impact on how we feel and function. On the smallest level, our cells need a wide range of nutrients for growth, maintenance, and repair, thus allowing our bodies to do all the amazing things that they do!

So, what to eat? Our distant ancestors ate seasonally appropriate, locally sourced foods that were nutrient dense and minimally processed. Unfortunately, we’ve strayed quite far from those traditional roots and today’s array of highly processed foods luring in our taste-buds and literally changing our genetic makeup makes it difficult to navigate “eating well.” Even foods that are “healthy” may not be the right choice for our bodies. And even what’s right for our bodies shifts in different life stages. It’s complex and sometimes confusing.

That’s where I’m here to support you! As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, we will work together to identify your bio-individual needs and goals then come up with a plan that works for your lifestyle. Nutrient dense, whole foods will be at the heart of our gameplan, along with exploring digestion and elimination, blood sugar regulation, fatty acids, mineral balance, and hydration to find the foods that work for your body right now. As the journey goes on, you may wish to incorporate other lifestyle changes (such as modifying exercise habits, stress-relief practices, or sleep hygiene) in ways that are supportive, not stressful.

I appreciate the time you are taking to explore ways to support your health. This is huge! You’re already taking the first step toward optimizing your health and I would be honored to accompany you on this journey.
